Approach to Wellbeing
Wellbeing and Inclusion at Keilor Heights Primary School
At Keilor Heights Primary School, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, respected and connected to their school community.
Our approach is guided by the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework, which promotes clear expectations and positive behaviours across all areas of the school. Students are explicitly taught and encouraged to demonstrate our school values of Respect, Aspire, Responsibility and Resilience in their everyday actions.
To recognise and celebrate positive behaviour, students can earn KHoins, our school reward system. KHoins are awarded when students demonstrate our school values and contribute positively to our learning community. This system helps foster a culture where positive behaviours are acknowledged, celebrated and reinforced.
We have also adopted the Berry Street Education Model, which supports the development of students' self-regulation, relationships, wellbeing and engagement in learning. Alongside this, all students participate in the Respectful Relationships program, building important social and emotional skills, developing empathy, and learning how to create positive and respectful connections with others.
Through these approaches, we strive to ensure every student feels safe, included and empowered to succeed. At Keilor Heights Primary School, we believe that a strong sense of belonging is the foundation for both wellbeing and learning, enabling every child to flourish and achieve their full potential.
