Berry Street Education Model

At Keilor Heights Primary School, all staff have been trained in the Berry Street Education Model, a research-informed approach that supports student wellbeing, engagement and academic success. The principles of the Berry Street model are embedded throughout our wellbeing programs and everyday classroom practice, ensuring that every student feels safe, supported and ready to learn.

Students participate in regular Morning Circles, which help build strong relationships, foster connection and create a sense of belonging within each classroom. Teachers also utilise Brain Breaks throughout the day to support student focus, regulation and engagement in learning. For students requiring additional support, Ready-to-Learn Plans provide personalised strategies that help them successfully engage in the classroom environment.

Central to our approach is a commitment to unconditional positive regard, where every student is treated with respect, empathy and understanding. By focusing on positive relationships, emotional wellbeing and consistent support, we create an inclusive learning environment where students feel known, valued and empowered to achieve their best.
